We’re a Christian retirement community in Lititz, PA (in Lancaster County, PA) offering residential independent senior living (cottages and apartments), personal care services, and healthcare center for long-term care and short-term rehabilitation.
History
In the early 1900s, Barbara and Henry Firestone opened their home to neighbors who needed assistance and began caring for them. As members of the United Zion Church and owners of a bakery that served the local area, Barbara and Henry’s generosity flowed from their Christian faith and their commitment to the community. Along with the church, they formally incorporated the effort as the United Zion Home for the Homeless in 1905.
Foundation
United Zion Retirement Community carries out its non-profit mission of providing superior quality service in an environment based on doctrinal teachings of the United Zion Church, in a loving and caring community encouraging independence, promoting wellness, and preserving human dignity.
The Heart of the Home at United Zion is built around our Christian faith that is evidenced by our Chapel and United Zion Ordained Chaplain. We are called to a lifestyle that is different from the world in our speech, social and business ethics, our relationships, our priorities and our appearance. As a result, United Zion Church has adopted the following Articles of Doctrine: Trinity; Creations; Divine Inspiration and Inerrancy of Scripture; New Birth; Baptism; Christian Witness; Holy Communion; Christian Stewardship; Divine Healing; Marriage; Dedication of Children; Blessed Hope; and Pro-life Position.
Today
Today, United Zion Retirement Community carries out its non-profit mission with the same Christian commitment that inspired the Firestones more than a century ago. As a life plan community (also called a “continuing care retirement community”), we offer a full range of services that support the lives of the residents, their families, and the broader community. And our unique staff culture centers around loving and caring for the residents and each other.
