Homes for HOPE

Homes for HOPE partners with the building industry to invest in underserved families around the world for their holistic flourishing unto the glory of God.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, award-winning builder Jeff Rutt traveled to Ukraine with his church, delivering food, clothing, and medical supplies. After several trips, a local pastor challenged him to move beyond charity and help people become self-sufficient.

Inspired by that challenge, Jeff founded HOPE International in 1997, using profits from a home sale to provide small business loans to 12 entrepreneurs. As demand for loans grew, Jeff invited trades, vendors, and business partners to donate their profits from building projects, giving rise to Homes for HOPE.

Established as a separate nonprofit in 2005, Homes for HOPE partners with the building industry to help entrepreneurs in underserved communities overcome material and spiritual poverty. Through its support of HOPE International, the organization has helped more than 2.5 million people worldwide access loans, savings services, business training, and discipleship opportunities, empowering them to build sustainable futures for their families.
