Birth Care and Family Health Services

Birth Care and Family Health Services is a non-profit pro-life birth and women’s health care center devoted to empowering women to take charge of their health care. Founded in 1978, we are the oldest continuously operating birth center in the state.

We are accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC), and our staff of 7 Certified Nurse Midwives and 8 RNs/LPNs attend an average of 250 births per year. We also provide point-of-care ultrasound for early pregnancy bleeding, annual GYN services, circumcision, and newborn care through the first 28 days.

About 70% of our clients are self-pay, and the majority of those are Amish and pay what they are able according to an income-based sliding fee scale. We rely on generous donations to be able to continue to offer deeply discounted services for the plain community through the sliding fee scale.

Here’s how your gift might help:

• $25 can provide a blood draw to screen for anemia or diabetes
• $50 can provide an ultrasound
• $75 can cover the cost of a newborn screen
• $150 can provide a home visit for mom and baby
• $200 is an annual exam/cancer screen
• $500 can provide postpartum care for a mom and baby
• $1,500 provides prenatal care for a mom in need
• $3,000 helps offset the cost of a birth for a client with financial need
