Cause Profile:

A Story Rooted in Restoration
New Hope began with a shared conviction: no one should have to walk through crisis or healing alone. In the late 1990s, local Solanco-area churches recognized a growing need for Christ-centered mental health care in Southern Lancaster County and responded together. Through their vision and generosity, New Hope was formed—a place for compassionate counseling, practical support, and the hope of Jesus Christ.

That spirit of collaboration remains central to who we are. Today, New Hope continues to be deeply rooted in faith, supported by a growing network of churches who pray, give, and partner with us—especially through the Hope Chest Fund, which helps make counseling accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances.

Over the years, New Hope has grown to become a place of belonging and renewal—serving the Southern Lancaster County community through professional Christian counseling, the Community Closet thrift store, and strategic partnerships with local schools, churches, businesses, and service organizations that reflect both compassion and purpose. New Hope is also a proud member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

The Counseling Center: Christ-Centered Care in Community
At the heart of our work is our Counseling Center, where individuals and families receive professional care grounded in clinical excellence and Christian compassion. Our counselors walk with people through trauma, anxiety, grief, addiction, relational conflict, and more—offering tools for healing and space for hope to grow.

We partner with the Solanco School District to provide school-based counseling and with The Oaks Ministry to serve women in transitional housing. These partnerships bring care directly to where it’s needed most.

In the past year, we completed construction of a new Counseling Center, including a dedicated play therapy room, and we are actively seeking additional counselors—including a child counselor—to deepen our care for local families. In welcoming new team members, we will shorten waitlists, expand access, and meet more people where they are.

We’re also preparing to launch faith-informed support groups and community classes designed around the real needs we hear each day.

The Community Closet: Clothing with Dignity. Proceeds with Purpose.
The Community Closet is more than a thrift store. It’s a hub of dignity and connection—where volunteers serve with purpose and neighbors shop with pride. Every purchase helps support our Counseling Center, contributing a portion of the vital funds needed to provide the professional counseling care our community deserves.

Through our partnership with Solanco Neighborhood Ministries, we provide clothing vouchers to families in crisis. These vouchers offer new shoes, new undergarments, and the opportunity to shop for their own clothing, preserving choice and dignity at a difficult time.

We continue to expand the Closet’s impact through seasonal outreach and volunteer opportunities, integrating service, community, and generosity in one vibrant space.

Meeting Needs, Cultivating Change
We respond to immediate needs—but we also invest in long-term transformation. Through the Hope Chest Fund, we offer sliding-scale counseling, and over 70% of our clients receive financial assistance. Because no one should be turned away from help due to cost.

Many of the struggles we see—trauma, addiction, broken relationships—are intergenerational. But healing can be, too. When someone begins to name their pain, process emotions in healthy ways, and receive support, it leads to real change: in how they live, how they parent, how they love, how they work. It unlocks the God-given vision for their lives.

And as individuals heal, our community grows stronger. Wholeness ripples outward—into homes, churches, schools, and workplaces. It builds something lasting.

What’s Next
We’re building in two directions: Some of our clients are healing from what was lost. Others are building what they’ve never had.

Either way, we walk with them—toward freedom, restoration, and new possibilities.
This is the work of New Hope. And it doesn’t stop at our doors.

Together with churches, families, businesses, and service providers across Southern Lancaster County, we’re helping people rise. What happens inside our walls—through counseling, connection, and care—echoes outward into the fabric of our community.

Hope is rising! And we invite you to be part of it.
