Cause Profile:

Mainstay (n): a person or thing on which something else is based or depends. At Mainstay Christian, Christ alone is our Mainstay. He is the one on which we base our lives and depend upon continually in all we do.

Mainstay Christian Academy was founded in August of 2022 by two former local teachers to support homeschooling families in Lancaster County. Beginning with 12 families and 20 students the program is now entering its third school year with 76 enrolled families and 116 total students. Mainstay now employs ten highly qualified staff members to serve the students and families. Mainstay education is a beautiful blend of a rigorous engaging private Christian education with the flexibility of homeschooling. Mainstay Christian Academy’s mission is to provide an affordable Christ-centered education and support system to Lancaster County homeschooling families through a hybrid model of education.

Mainstay Christian is currently a kindergarten through sixth grade hybrid homeschool program. All students meet from 8:30 – 12:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Ministry Annex at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Oregon Pike. The 5th and 6th grade day is extended until 1:00 to accommodate a heavier curriculum load. These in school days are spent with daily time in chapel and classroom time with a certified teacher with instruction being provided in math, reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, science, and social studies. The remaining three days of the week are spent in at-home learning with all materials and lesson outlines provided by the Mainstay teachers. There is a Pack and Stay option for all families to use to extend any K-4th grade child’s day until 1:00 at a minimal cost. Students pack their lunch and have extended time with peers in structured and unstructured activities. In addition, the option to add on electives from 1:00 – 2:00 is offered, with opportunities for students to take classes like art, physical education, Spanish, STEAM, home economics, and many more.

Mainstay Christian Academy provides assemblies, field trips and family connection activities to unite the student body. This past year the following opportunities were given to our students: Lancaster Science Factory Robotics learning experience, Hands on House Safari Senses learning experience, visit with Manheim Township Fire Company, Annette Whipple author visit, field trip to Lancaster County Park, and more!

Mainstay Christian Academy seeks to continue supporting local homeschooling families through a strong Christian education hybrid program.
