The mission of REAL Life Community Services (RLCS) is to connect the community to Hope. Our purpose is to reach at-risk youth and help families in need in our community. We fulfill our mission by linking people to the services and resources they need from government or nonprofit agencies as well as through our youth ministry programs. RLCS is the only social services organization based in Denver. Our organization is guided by six core values:
History of Organization
REAL Life Community Services (RLCS) started doing youth ministry in 2008 and quickly evolved into a faith-based social services organization. In 2014, we were gifted the Lighthouse Community Center and The Glory House Transitional Home for single parents. RLCS serves as the Cocalico affiliate for Power Packs, distributing food to over 50 families a week, and it provides a transitional home for mothers leaving a local women’s shelter. In addition to this, REAL Life Community Services was able to open the Declaration House in 2019, after years of planning and fundraising, in order to provide permanent housing for 10 low-income families, a hub for our social services, a discount grocery store and a satellite office for Union Community Care. In 2020, RLCS purchased Warehouse 916, the areas first and only food bank, and then in 2021, we purchased 230 Main Street, the Royer House, adding 5 more affordable apartments to the ministry’s inventory.
