Mainstay Christian Academy

Cause Profile:

Mainstay (n): a person or thing on which something else is based or depends.

At Mainstay Christian, Christ alone is our Mainstay. He is the one on which we base our lives and depend upon continually in all we do. Mainstay education is a beautiful blend of a rigorous engaging private Christian education with the flexibility of homeschooling.

Mainstay Christian Academy was founded in 2022 by two local former public school teachers, with the mission of bringing affordable quality Christian education to homeschooling families in Lancaster County. Within three years MCA has grown from twenty students to supporting over one hundered forty students from ninety families.

Mainstay Christian offers a kindergarten through sixth grade on campus hybrid homeschool program. All K – 6th grade hybrid students meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Stumptown Mennonite Church in Bird-in-Hand to receive instruction in reading, math, writing, science and social studies. In addition, MCA offers a kindergarten through second grade off-campus STAY program to support homeschooling families through teacher support, curriculum pacing, and on campus events and electives.

Beyond traditional subjects, MCA offers students the option to add on electives from 1:00 – 2:00, with opportunities for students to take classes like Art, Intro to Gymnastics, French, Kids in the Kitchen, Story Detectives, Classical Recorders, Knitting for Charity and more!

The remaining three days of the week are spent in at-home learning with all materials and lesson outlines provided by the Mainstay teachers. Parents love the support of trained and certified educators while being able to have a hands-on role in their child’s Christian based education.

MCA strives to provide a full school experience for their students with frequent assemblies and field trips provided. Beyond education, MCA looks to build community among its families through monthly Connections events such as outdoor movie night, ice cream meet-ups, pizza and bingo night, and more.
