From Founder, Dave Garman:
In December 2022, my friend, Aschille, led me behind a small church in Milot, Haiti, to show me a small and empty, four-room school. The school wanted to open for the children of the community but had no funds for uniforms, lunches, or teacher salaries.
I felt God urging me to help.
A month later, I returned to find over a hundred children, full of energy and eager to learn. What I didn’t realize at the time was that God had just put the work of Instruments of Christ, Haiti (IOCH) ministry into motion.
I quickly discovered that many rural private schools, mostly Christian, were facing the same struggle—no government funding, and parents unable to afford tuition due to Haiti’s deepening crisis. After Milot, we founded Bahon, then Limbe, and eventually partnered with six more schools in Camp-Louise.
Today, IOCH supports 200 teachers across 16 schools, impacting a little over 3,000 students. Besides teacher salaries, we provide bags of rice to help feed children who wouldn’t otherwise have a regular meal to eat. Last month, we hosted our third bi-annual teachers’ seminar to equip teachers with the skills and encouragement they need to serve and share the Gospel in their curriculum. School directors outside of IOCH even joined us, highlighting the urgency of this work.
We now have a waiting list of 14 more Christian schools in northern Haiti, all in need of support. We’re praying that God will provide the funding to help these courageous school directors educate and inspire the next generation to bring about a better Haiti.
Here’s how your gift can help:
Your donation today doesn’t just help children in the moment—it sets the foundation for lasting change in Haiti. We pray that in hearing the Gospel and having a consistent opportunity to learn, in a generation or two from now, these students will be the ones leading the way to a better future for Haiti. Thank you for being part of this mission.
